Un-filtered air going into engine....

I nopticed a new flat spot and a lack in performance a couple of days ago and ive only just got round to checking it out.

Turns out there was a split in my ram pipe after my air filter which would have allowed un-filtered air into my engine. The split was in the rippely tube in the pic below:

Ive fixed it now so that it cant ever happen again and it seems to run just fine. I want to know though how much damage could this cause to my engine, worst case scenario, it could have been like that for a week!!! And what measures can i take to stop any problems resulting from this.

But i was helping my mate out with his car once and found one of my screw drivers in his air filter box from when he had test fitted an induction kit at my house about 3 months previously.
