Muzz
A 1.8/2.0 litre engine conversion would be a good start. It's pointless trying to get BHP out of a 1.6 as it has no bottom end power. Edited June 6, 2005 by Muzz

Ex-Finesse
Or buy a high miler and just chuck it in the car!! Zetecs are strong as fcuk. Chosen correctly, a 100k 2.0L will still have plenty of life left in it. There will be some which do smoke, but listen to a cold start up, make sure there aint a hint of smoke, then plant the throttle and make sure it doesn't hesitate, etc..... Then you can get one pretty cheap. I've just done exactly this, and for a ton of (some unnecessary) new parts, and a pretty steep $300 labour charge, I paid a total of around $650. For a gain of at least 40bhp, it's the only way to go. However, to sort the fueling, you gotta chip it which will prob be around $500-ish. Sorry about the $ signs, they're meant to be pound signs
