Loss of power at 4000 revs

if it just cut out with the MAF unplugged. and with imo less airflow from the original air box. the car has a fueling problem. that popping is unburnt fuel ignighting i guess.

 

might be a good idea to remove the chip., worth a try before ya get ur purse out.

Hi all, and thanks to all of you that replied.

 

Well, I got my purse out , but in the scrappie.

 

Got a MAF for £20, of a 1.6 Escort (I love Escorts ). Put it on while I was in the scrappie, so I could try it down the by-pass on the way home.

 

Well. I'm fcuking amazed, the car has been transformed.

 

Fast as fcuk now.........well, for a Fiesta, compared to the way it was and what I've been used to.

 

Let the engine cool down for a few hours and have just been to Tesco and done a lap round town and its still ok.

 

Looks like it was the MAF.

 

I'll see how it is again in the morning, but for now I'm well chuffed.
