RichRoberts
Does anybody know where to get some spring compressors from? Also when ive fitted my new springs (there -35mm) is it best to get the tracking done again? One more thing,in my haynes manual it tells me to undo the center nut on the stut before its out of its mount, and in the max power guide it says definatly dont undo the center nut!Which one is right? cheers
The Ince
Ebay for spring compressors, brought mine from their Some from ebay There's loads on the so dont pay to much for them Undo the three outside ones first (these release the strut), drop the strut out whole, then (with the spring compressors on) remove the centre nut. I've tried both ways and this one is much easier!
Ex-Finesse
Also when ive fitted my new springs (there -35mm) is it best to get the tracking done again?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yes, immediately after the springs are fitted..... and then again 250 - 500 miles after fitting, as they will have settled and the tracking will be out. RichRoberts
what about with second hand springs,do these still need to be track and re-tracked,wont they just be settled from the get go?
Ex-Finesse
Depends how long they've been off the car, as they will extend themselves in a short space of time. Any kind of system where pressure is released when it is normally constant will lead to settling when pressure is placed upon it again. You could always ask a garge for a discount as you're getting tracking done twice
