geordie_aaron
Only started happening lately..... (had the soundsystem set up for months remember) only the 6x9s start crackling (sounds like a fire crackle) when i turn on the lights, main or dipped.......i've rewired it ALL from the battery backwards, i've stripped the amp making sure everything is ok, tried wires from the subs which are working fine, like i've said replaced all new wires.....i'm stuck....its not a need for supressors as it doesn't change if i rev the engine it happens with engine on/off and ONLY with lights on... OBV its sumit to do with the lights......but what? i'm completly stuck
The Ince
does your headunit light up when you put your lights on? Have you checked the RCA leads (normally near the plugs), as a dodgy RCA can cause cracking noises
geordie_aaron
forgot to mentions that, i've tried new/used RCA's too, i dont use the DIM function on the headunit, its on constant glow
The Ince
odd, can think what the problem would be, as its not affected by the engine revs, but just by the lights seems very odd to me, as only the headunit would have a connection to the lights for the dim function. geordie_aaron
exactly lol got me right stumped.... i've also swapped the subs amp with the 6x9's and the subs run fine but the crackles still come with the 6x9s, the 6x9s are fine as i've tried them in a different car.......i'm lost hahah
cosrep
Have you checked the earth mounting points for the lights? Could be loose or corroded.
geordie_aaron
yeah, i've even replaced them wires too..... cosrep
Try taking all the fuses out associated with the lights and see if it still does it, you can find out if its defo the lights that way. If it does'nt do it with the fuses out, replace them one by one whilst testing the head unit. That way at least you can eliminate parts of the lighting circuit that are'nt faulty.
