uusmatt
I have a problem with my air con, i wonder if anyone else has had any similar problems. Firstly, when you switch it on it works perfectly, nothing wrong there, however when it it turned off it will randomly come on without me touching it. I have traced all the wiring and i don't think it's grounded against anything, teh relay is fine (new) the fan speed switch is new, i've ran out of ideas and my haynes manual hasn't got a circuit diagram for anything on a 99 escort. anyone have any ideas? Also i asume there is an electrical controll box that the switch / aircon etc plugges into, i coulden't find one when i traced the wiring behind the dash, does any one know where this is? It's fecking anoying when you are in the middle of spanking some nova or corsa and the aircon kicks in and removes all your torque. Thanks for any help. bluliz
when it goes on and off is the Green light always lit?
uusmatt
It is a brand new switch and the connector / wiring is fine. there are no shorts in the connector that i can see. The green light always comes on first exactly as if the button has been pressed, then the rev's change a couple of seconds after the light comes on. I should also mention that it will kick in even with the fan speed set to off, which won't happen with the switch actually pressed. Having driven it for a while now, it doesn't seem to happen when everything is cold, it will wait 15 mins or so after you start the engine before it starts. If you remove the fuse it doesn't happen (although you can still press the button and the light will come on, the air con won't kick in) If you have been driving for a while (an hour or so) so everything is hot, but the fuse is out, then put the fuse in it will not happen for 10 mins or so, so i asume it is something in the aircon system getting hot????? I hope that helps. Anybody have any idea's?
