if you are buying second hand parts on this website you must be careful you dont get stitched up.

generally most users are truthfull and sell perfectly described item but there are some that dont too.

i purchased a 2.0l zetec bottom end that was supposed to be fantastic and had all new parts in it etc etc for £200 in good faith!!

spent ages building it up and fitting it in my mk4 escort which is a hard job in itsself let alone the fact i suffer from scoliosis and had a major operation this year.

the engine was a smoker, it smoked like a train, it burnt oil.

i spent ages trying to figure out what it was and at the end of it all it turned out that the bores were too big for the pistons and also they were very coarse so they let oil past the pistons.

i actually caused myself damage to my back rying to remove the engine again which was frustrating for me to say the least.

this engine was supposed to be in perfect working order which it totally was not.

i had to purchase a new block and spent £200 in total making it fit the pistons i had from the first engine.

so i paid £400+ for just a block!!

i tried to get some form of compensation from the seller but they wouldnt help me at all.

so be aware that you cant always trust that person.

i am not mentioning any names on the forum as its not right.

if you are concerned about something you are purchasing then please feel free to pm me.

please dont delete this post as its my right to put my point across without causing any problems or naming any names.

cheers people.

mike

>ideal if you want to spend some money and make a good'n.<

What's not to get? Says quite clearly in his post it needs money spending on it as it's knackered, seems fair enough to me. ?(

Basically were getting a load of Shite here for a dodgy engine place in south London. We buy a car and are told summit is wrong with the valves one is replaced car ran fine then car was stripped.

I payed out my own pocket to get it posted and that ended up costing over £100 with TNT

I offered to buy him brand new rings if he wanted them

I gave him a half price ECU for his other car

I offered Him A Cheap deal on any parts he requires in the future

I even tracked down the previous owner of the engine to find out who done what

Makes it sound like offered him nothing. :nutter:

at the end of the day i paid £200 for a (apparently) reconditioned bottom end that was no good!

i turned down a £80 used bottom end for this one because i wanted less hasstle and piece of mind and all i have got is agro and expence.

maybe you didnt make that much on it in the end but thats not the point, you sold me a smoker for £200.

yes i have put it up for sale in the for sale section because its ok for someone who wants to buy new pistons, plus i got to get some of my money back.

jdm get my thumbs up

posted very fast and cheap too, even if i still havent had time to fit the steering rack much to the missuses annoyance

this is why i never sell engines, turbo's or ecu's not shown working, more trubble than they are worth, even a good engine left sitting can have probs next time its used, beleve me, ive had my fill of using laid up turbo cvh's only to find 100 miles down the rd the oil pumps pack up, all cos they were unused for a while
