Posted December 23, 200222 yr For supplying big brake kits for the Mk6. I currently have a Gti with Standard brakes, but as I have 17"Momo Quasars the brakes are lost behind the alloy showing ALOT of space. I have had some stupid quotes from AP racing and Elite for uprating the brakes to 300mm or 330mm, of £1,500 each for the front or back, but does anyone know of any companies that do kits that are more reasonably priced. Thanks for your help.
December 23, 200222 yr Hi-Spec motorsport do a kit for the mk6, but their website keeps shutting down Or I got 285mm discs with wilwood 4 pots for £530
December 23, 200222 yr Author Thanks Pete, I can see what you mean about their website, bit on the slow (I mean crap) side. But they have now quoted me £345 plus VAT for a 300mm kit for the Mk6, which is a hell of alot cheaper than I have been quoted so far, so thanks for the tip.
December 24, 200222 yr They are £650. Comes with the discs, pads, 4-pot calipers, braided hoses and whatever else is needed. Godspeed will fit them for £75 extra, which is what I did. They are based in Llantrisant, South Wales. PS. I know it's pricey but their kit is simply awesome.
December 24, 200222 yr Author They look serious, might have to take a weekend break down to wales in the near future then!! Just hopes the wife likes the rain, and she'll just worry about me and the sheep!!
December 24, 200222 yr They are 325mm discs with alloy bells: http://www.godspeedbrakes.fsnet.co.uk/4_po...sions/325mm.htm
December 24, 200222 yr One of the most beautiful things seen since the way arnie reloads his shotgun in terminator two when riding on the motor bike chasing the terminator in the truck.....................
March 3, 200322 yr Author Finally managed to get to Wales, and got the front rakes done at the moment, will put some pictures on as soon as I have downloaded them. Still bedding them in at the moment, but all I can say is when compared with the originals they are Awesome. Cheers Flat_Steve, I owe you a beer.
March 3, 200322 yr Author Sorry, also too excited can't spell today. Meant to say BRAKES, not rakes.
March 3, 200322 yr Author Not Quite, as even though I have 17's the amount of clearance needed for the calipers was not enough so had to settle for 308mm using cosworth calipers, finished in custom blue. But hey they fill up the gap nicely, and will stop me a damn sight faster than my old standard discs, As it was not the 325 kit was about £100 cheaper too.
March 3, 200322 yr Author And finally have managed to get the pictures up so here they are: -Before After I have tried to get a pic of the discs with the wheels but it came up very dark, so will try again.
