sutty2006
Those civics ROCK Doesn't happen to be a 1.4 GL does it? Non-vtec, yet a rapid machine! After replacing those bits, it's still not right? Was the wheel straight as you slid into the kerb? Is the steering wheel straight or not when you're driving straight? It is a 1.4 GL, 16valve with dual carbs! Electric everything, mirrors, windows, sunroof, power steering. Quite a nippy car really. I think i had my wheel turned when i hit the kerb, it drives in a straight line when the steering wheel is straight so theres no probs there. Im just hoping the strut isnt bent because its a gmax one. Not sure if u can just buy a single strut.

He wants to know whether his had been removed PS> Take the air filter out, it sounds absolutely MENTAL It shouldn't bend the shock The whole assembly should have pivoted on the axis of the top mount
M4TT
Paul did the same on a round about and the shock bent and came out the hub pushed all the wing and door back car wasnt straight after that so time to scrap, wasnt worth repairing

The garage that is assessing it may write it off because with it being an old car the value is low. If they do im gonna have it back and repair it myself. Ive taken the escort to a proper garage who say the next thing to try is the shocker as 9 times out of 10 they bend enough to notice on the wheel but not on the shocker. Plus it came out of the hub when I yanked the old lower arm off.
Ex-Finesse
Plus it came out of the hub when I yanked the old lower arm off.Could quite possibly have bent the shock where it slides into the suspension spindle / carrier / hub assembly. Hope it's fixed soon mate.
sutty2006
Just taken the strut off. the lower part that fits into the hub is completely bent so i put a set of standard struts on for time being. Seems to have lined wheel up better but the steerings out again. If anyones got a gmax front strut id be happy to ave it off em.
