majorj0nny
where in the name of all that is holy is the bloody relay board ? im getting hints its on the back? of the fusebox board - but the think I call my fusebox is under a little door below my steering column - easy access to all the fuses - but I cant see a simple way of getting to the back of it ? S reg GTi ... anyone know where my replays are ?????
majorj0nny
wow - finally found it ... what afterthought idea was that by mr ford ? must have had the YTS lad in on that day at the ford escort design office ! lol ... released the metal clip ontop of the fuse box under the steering column- the whole unit slumped down- held in place by a cable tie ? I cut this and the thing slumped a little lower, hitting and coming to rest on the lower part of the dash .. Pearing inside I could see relays! YAY! ... having to pull the lower lip of the dash out while pushing the fusebox unit down a little more I finally got some sort of finger access to the relays. I got one of those map reading interior lights that came with a relay? I installed the light in seconds and it all worked fine so I just left the relay, but found out from this wonderful place that the relay creates the 20 second delay - So now that I had access to the relays R11 is the empty slot for this (interior light delay) it has a metal contact pin that needs first removing - that tested manouvers of manual finger dexterity i thought I never had, then slot the yellow relay right in ... job done - nice 20 second delay. anyone know how to create the 'dimming' effect for the interior light ? and can I put a higher wattage bulb in that interior light ... still a little dull for standard (excluding the map reading ones). bluliz
he dimming effect will probably be done by a relay, but you will need one from a mk3 mondeo or focus. the bulb is 10w, get some LED ones. they have about 8 or 12 led's in and are brighter. you may be able to fit 2 bulbs in with some modding. but i'd recommend using LED bulbs to keep the wattage down. Scraggzy
For future refernece once you've dropped the fuse box down you can pull it out of the rear mounting to gain better access to wiring.
