Bugger me, i did this in the fiesta and it didnt make any difference apart from 15 mile to a gallon, but on my escort its actually BETTER on fuel, and its Fcuking rapid! I unplugged the MAF on the airfilter piping, and it really boots now, its so much smoother and doesnt misfire like it used to, and the exhaust note is different and it pops and gargles aswell, ive been out all night, and you can cruise along in 3rd at 3000 rpm, let off, then jsut boot it again and it still goes for it !

Sorry i had to share the excitement...

The MAF is obviously knackered, when i thought it was the ISCV but that was replaced 10k ago.

I put in a tenner from empty and the guage went up to between the 1/4 and the 1/2 marker, drove to nuneaton and got lost, got back, says 59 miles on the counter, and its only just below the 1/4 mark

Its just the noise the thing makes, sounds really chav, its only a 1600 zetec but i took it right round to 6k in 3rd and it was touching just over 70 coming down the M6

Just seen this post so apologies for bringing it back to the top but don't leaving the MAF sensor unplugged cause it to go into limp mode, run rich and eventually knacker the engine??
