Norm W
Sat in traffic today, handbrake on in neutral. Temp gets to the "M" of "NORM" on gauge, fan cuts in and tbh, is goddamn noisy as fook Car's idling away then I feel the revs dip, drops to below 500RPM, picks up a bit to about 700RPM then dives again so I rev it and it takes a while to build revs up, took it to 2k RPM then eased off, it settled down. Fan cuts out a bit later and shakes the WHOLE CAR as it winds down. Any ideas? Car doesn't go above the "M" of "NORM" EVER so I assume it's not getting too hot.... bluliz
leaving the car parked and idling will not get much air flow around: a, engineb, RADIATOR. this is why the fan kicks in to pull/blow air through the radiator. kicking in at "M" is noral in my opinion too. well mine does it and has done if for the last 4 years. as for the shaking.....one of the bolts loose? bracket on the fan broken? mine idles the same lol. its most likely the idle speed control valve. give it a clean, failing that try another one. I'll find my idle control valve and clean it and try and check the fan for obstructions etc, was dark by the time I got home so couldn't do anything.
