Giorgio
My car has done 105k on what i can only assume is the standard gearbox. I am looking at getting a 2 litre engine transplant and will be changing the clutch at the same time. I have experienced no problems with the gearbox, but the speedo needle moves up and down whilst driving which i had heard was a sign the gearbox was on its way out. Should i replace the gearbox at the same time as the engine, or will it be ok? Thanks for any advice
Carl160180
I would use your original box as 105 is'nt really that many mile's on a box when you think about it, And as for the needle jumping up and down it's the speedo drive in the gearbox where the cable goes into, simple job to replace, I keep meaning to do mine but never get round to it
