D19 STE Posted July 17, 2007 Share Posted July 17, 2007 Dont know what happened to my guide, pumabuild did mine for me and they used a focus handbrake but the braket that goes on needed a little bit grinding out to fit it. This is only a guide and I am not 100% sure on the parts used as Pumabuild did this conversion for me so you could try and ask them www.pumabuild.co.uk 1. Remove road wheel 2. Remove grease centre cap & undo centre nut 3. Remove brake drum 4. Clamp brake hose to stop the fluid dripping out 5. Undo brake hose from rear of wheel cylinder 6. Undo four bolts from stub axel & remove 7. Disconnect handbrake cable8. Drill out rivets from back plate and remove 9. Rivet new splash sheild onto hub 10. Position new stub axel & secure with four bolts (original ?) and fit the ABS sensor into stub axel (this was machined by pumabuild) 11. Fit new hub and bearings onto stub axel checking that the abs sensor doesnt hit the abs ring ,think this was machined to hold the abs ring 12. Fit stub axel retaining nut 13. Re fit grease centre cap 14. Coat mounting suraces of disc with copper grease15. Fit disc onto flange 16. Bolt brake pad carrier onto hub 17. Remove standard brake hose18. Fit new braided line (either a front focus or puma one) 19. Fit pads into carrier 20. Fit caliper and tighten bolts 21. Tighten caliper bolts22. Connect new brake line to caliper23. Remove old hand brake cable & fit new one (focus one) this needed a slite modification again done by pumabuild 24. Bleed the calipers and re fit wheel This is a ST170 rear disc set up 280mm x 10mm disc as far as I know. No, it's a escort 95+ rear axle winth focus1 hubs. The end. But without hand brake excuse me for bumping that old thread but... im on a quest to sort out exactly what parts do i need to convert my '97 escort gti to rear discs with ABS. I thought (i mean read around until now) only rear axle from 95+ rs2000 is compatible with focus mk1 rear disc hubs. Or is it any '95+ escort (with drums)?
