few more build pics from this,

after the block and gearbox were bolted up i collected the head from my local machine shop, fully rebuilt, pressure tested skimmed, new valve guides, valve seats re cut, piper uprated springs fitted etc etc

then fitted the cams and new cambelt, bolted up the blacktop inlet and t3 turbo on cvh maifold etc

at this point it dawned on me that i hadn't refitted the oil gallery bung behind the flywheel when i cleaned the block out after machining so gearbox out again which was a bit of a pain. then realised that the blacktop inlet was sitting tight against the brake cross bar so i ended up digging out a rover inlet and homemade adapter plate i had left over from a previous project

pic of adaptor plate before it was finished off

i chopped the inlet and had a plate welded on to take the frst throttle body

also drilled and tapped the inlet for some vacuum pipe outlets

then bolted it up and finished the pipework and a few other bits and ended up with this

fast forward to thursday this week, i needed the base map tweaked as it wasn't quite right so took it for a rolling road tune at power engineering

long story short, the most we could get out of it was 206 bhp and 220 lb/ft of torque at 7 psi, we tried to run more boost but the clutch started slipping. i think its down to the standard cover not being up to the job so when i get bored with the power i'll fit the helix uprated cover and take it back for another session.I grabbed a few pics while i was there......

nice mate, shame about the clutch though.

cheers bud, it is a bit of a pain, i'm convinced the cover supplied was wrong, theres plently of people out there running the same set up with more power so somethings amiss. on the plus side i've done 505 miles now and haven't broken it up yet so its doing better than the last mk6 i had :)

I really shouldn't read threads like this , gets me thinking silly thoughts... :D bet you're well chuffed with it

do it, mate :thumb:

been racking up the miles on the escort over the last couple of weeks and clocked up 992 miles in total. last weekend me and a mate went up to cambridge to visit a friend of ours and ended up going b road bashing for a few hours. we stopped for a few pics

then off to santa pod yesterday, it would have been rude not to put the car up the strip and see what it could do....

this highlighted a few small issues with the car that need to be addressed, my best time was 15.06 which i was a little disappointed with but the surface was a bit greasy and was struggling with grip...

anyway the car survived the day and drove home faultlessly so over all very happy with it.
