father_ged
hey every1, long time no speak. right, one for the insurance gurus. im buying a second car today, i rang my insurance company and they wont let me use my 6 years no claims on it, so its gonna cost me a fortune that way. anyone got any ideas of how to get round this? i will probs only be insuring it for a few days anyway. ive seen a few temp car insurers on the internet, but most of them require that the car is newer than 1993. mine is a 1992 any help would be appreciated
sortedford
Any companies ive been with have beeen happy to mirror no claims. Just insure it with no no claims if its only a run around i guess it wont have alot of value to it?

Mike C
Does it have to be temporary? Because you could insure that for peanuts on a classic car policy that doesn't use or accrue any NCD. If you could find the right policy like that, I reckon you'd be paying little more than you would for temporary insurance anyway, depending on the timescale as it usually seems to be a rip off
sortedford
Thats how i had my saph, no no claim £650 FC, then with one year no claims it dropped to £350ish. Just start a new policy with it

Mike C
try these http://www.sureterm.com/classic-car-insurance.php Or ring HIC and tell them you want a classic policy. There are loads, but lots of companies only do them for 25+
Skell18
www.dayinsure.co.uk or www.dayinsure.com I have used them lots of times for a few days or a weeks cover, worked out at £10 a day for a single day and then goes down the longer you have it insured.
