Phill
I would like to colour code my door handles, side bump strips and the plastic jobby on the tailgate. How easy is this to do? I've heard horror stories about peeps breaking handles, and the side strips being a nightmare to take off.Is it worth getting it done professionally? My spray skills are non-existant, as I've never tried. What say ye what have had it done?
Rich
if you havent done it before best way is to go to a scrap yard, find another escort "buy" the handles and rear boot strip and have a go at painting them. That way when you mess it up, and we all do, you will still have the originals untouched on the car As for the side strips, getting them off is easy enough, its getting them back on afterwards which is the difficult part
Phill
...and how does one do that? Presumably you'd need some new glue of some sort... Cheers on the others, I'll go scrappy hunting.
Rich
i have not managed it myself, the ones i have taken off in the past have curled up into a C shape so i have just left them off. My current car had them painted already however
Frain
Exactly What happenned with mine! Just takes fuckin ages to get the gum Shite off!Bug remover did the trick!
Rich
yeah so once its in a C shape its hard to get it to stick on again, i think alot of people used double sided tape, or no more nails stuff. Try to get it flat by putting it into hot water for a few mins then put weight on it
