gti spoiler

i have just purchased a gti rear spoiler and when i have come to fit it, it doesn't fit pefectly flush with the tailgate. :censored: is there anything that can be used to make it a snug fit.

i went to halfords and they recommended some panel bonding sealant, i tried this and it was that runny it went all over the bodywork, what a Fcuking nightmare to get off. :nutter: :nutter:

at the moment the spoiler is being held on with 3 self tapper screws, and the double sided sticky tape that was supplied with it. ?(

ihave thought about using black sealant to hide the gap as my car is dark green and that wouldn't stand out as much.

thanks in advance. paul

try bolting the spoiler on properly to start with! mine has 6 bolts holding it down and when i took that off the other week it did spring a bit and thats been on the car for 5 years now so if you are fitting a new one then it's going to need properly fixing down or it will sit wrong.

take your time with it though and don't go slapping sealer and all sorts of shite in there or it is gonna look crap. perfection takes time u know ;)

i will be taking my time fitting it, but how do you get six bolts in it as, the only access from inside the tailgate has small deep holes that is just big enough to get the drill barrel through it.

the spoiler is from a local ford specialist and they told me self tappers would hold it as there is no way of fixing it with a nut and bolt.

any advice is more than welcome :thumb:

mask p the area where the screws will go,

rest the spoiler on the boot lid and mark where the holes will be,

drill the holes,

u can get to the places to tighten the nuts by striping the bootlid, there are rubber spring thingys which when u take off give u access to the screws.

i had trouble getting mine flush, but u have to gently make the holes slightly bigger to get it to sit just right.

is a pain to do but it makes such a difference once it is on.
