ive been driving 2 years, haD A CLAIM WHERE MY CAR WAS STOLEN IN NOVEMBER LAST YEAR, woops caps, and every insurer ive tryed offers me stupid quotes and/or says im not old enough to drive it.

seriously winds me up, how cna there be an age limit to what car i can drive? its the same insurers however that insured my 2.0 escort last year, say the cabriolet is a high performance vehicle and im not old enough for it,

does anyone have any suggestions or recomendations?

Its not so much that a Cabriolet is considered a high performance car, the insurance group is higher for a number of reasons (mainly because there so bloody easy for your average cnut to break into!!) Your quote should drop somewhat though if you can fit a recognised security system and you are able to keep it in a garage overnight, though your always going to pay higher premiums on soft tops...

I'm still getting quotes for my GTi at well over £4,000 (i have 2yrs ncb, never had a claim and drivin for 3 years)

Mind you, my GF has a convertible KA and she is 19 and only pays £600 to insure it :vangry:

Cabs are dearer as if you roll it you are more likely to die/get seriously injured >> more chance of them paying out alot of money

dont think thats rite mate, i think its more the theft option. they dont have to pay out if you die, as its either your own fault or someone else is to blame :thumb:

i must be the only one who gets good quotes on the compare websites then lol

Comparison websites have never given me better prices either.... surely the way they work is they get some commision anyway so their prices will be a little more??

I was only paying 700 Fully Comp on a Calypso cabby and I was 21 when I took the insurance out. However I have no had an accident and I think it will be back to being sky high! Try LV, they have done me good quotes.

Oh and postcode predjudice really is a real thing with insurance....but they have to if they considor an area dodgy. They will lookat stats for crime I guess... If I insured a car for where I am in Worcester it is ok..but a couple of streets down the road and it would be alot higher!
