Chicane16v
I thought I would put this up for any youngsters like me wanting an escort – or just a fair sized engine. I am 18, been driving for one year but no no-claims-bonus. The cheapest quote (after 3 hours on the phone and another 3 hours on the internet) was £1,500. That’s with Endsleigh. After that was Admiral with £1,600. Otherwise I was looking at £2,500+. Oh and that’s only third party fire and theft. Good luck saving the pennies Oh and for a laugh, my most expensive quote was £4,000 and something!!!

Tez162003
1500 for a 1.6 aint to bad tbh considering your age and no no claims my first car. 1.2 8v Nova put down as worth £250 (because it was lol) insurance price £1600 but you have to pay it if you want to build up no claims second 1.3 escort, 1yr no claims, car worth £350 insurance price about £1200 £1500 for 1.6 doesnt look to bad now hey! lol
JC
£1500 isnt bad, insurance for young plp has shot up, I paid £1200 on my 1.3 escort back in the day with tesco! Have you tried adrian flux, or tesco? don't go with Endsleigh.... they are useless, my complaints are still be investigated against them!
smithyandco
Just keep trying... You'll soon find the right quote!£1500 isn't too bad... I paid between £1000-1200 for a 1.4iOnce your over 21 and have at least 1y ncb you'll get better quotes... Can insure a 2.0 easily now and 1.4->1.8 (non modded, non-turbo except diesel) cost around £600 a year. Try adding your parents/girlfriend to the policy (especially mum... or even sister if she has a licence full or not) that could knock around £500 off if they have some ncb! bigstinka
my mate is 20 with a escort gti, drink driving, no insurance twice, no no-claims, paid £1800 fully comp. thought that was well cheap. but now has a cougar v6 2.5 paying over £2000 and has crashed into 3 cars in the snow. so who knows what it will be next year. Chicane16v
Ouch.Yes i tried all of the above, as said, 6 hours all in all looking for the cheapest quote.£1,500 really was the cheapest. And i know they are Shite, but it was either go with an insurance company i know are Shite, or go to a slightly better insurance company and pay maybe half again. And at the end of the day, no insurance company wants to pay out, especially to an 18 year old. Yet my cheapest quote on a 1.1 Rover Metro worth £150 was only £350 cheaper!! The value of the escort is £1000 for comparison.
