Lee R
A choice of car i respect, but they do need to be chipped up as 150BHP from a "GTI" is just not cricket remember, these (well mine) are 2001 cars!!! These were built not long after the 115bhp Escort 'GTi'..... The current GTi is of course alot more powerful......
boostic
so what did you pay?? year/miles etc? no point saying a good price and not telling Lets just say less than £1500 But like i said it needs some TLCThis one is defiatly over 150bhpThe bloke said he thinks its been remapped cos its as fast as his Sierra CossyBUT i couldnt tell you as ive never been in one so i wouldnt know, but this thing is seriously fastHopeing to get it on the rolling road one day to really see what it pulling Millage 100kOn a T regEngine looks clean, no smoke rattles or noises where they shouldnt be
Craig855S
The escort GTI is anther example of a GTI that doesnt deserve the badge, remember the origional GTI golf wasnt powerful but it was light so it still had performance. Same story with 106 GTis and 205 GTis etc,,lowish power figures but no real weight to them.
Lee R
as said, mines standard. It feels very brisk in 1st and 2nd, but does seems to run out of puff a bit at top end.... indicated 135mph comes up with ease though, so i'm told
sidrick
If it feels fast, then it isn't standard. These do not respond well to uneven mods, in terms of reliability. IE: If you want to remap it, you'll need to source the other parts that suit. Just because it's possible to get the performance out of the current parts doesn't make it wise. The 225 engine and the 150 don't differ too much, but don't expect a reliable 225bhp out of the 150 engine without forking out for ALL of the parts. That's my only advice to the new Golfers.
