need to find out what my student email address is, I've never used it before lol

As long as you have a xxx.ac.uk address you should be OK. Most unis/colleges give it to you during induction, so you may have it in the pack they gave you on day 1.

a 6 month old 52" hdtv for £300... Either that's the bargain of the century or it fell off the back of a lorry.

And I'd get that windows 7 licence now, you can then install it at your leisure but the offer is only on until January, and you'll be kicking yourself if you miss it. Windows 7 Professional (32 or 64bit) Upgrade for £30 when it should be ~£145. The upgrade part makes the installation a bit more interesting, but we'll come to that part later on.

student version? I think you're thinking of office there, but you can get office 2007 ultimate edition for £38.75.

The windows 7 version (choose between Home Premium or Professional - although why you wouldnt choose Professional is beyond me) is an upgrade disc, although can be used to do a clean install.

not sure, just going on what I've been told lol

and it says on the link somewhere that its a download, or do they send a disk aswell? (or is the disk the professional one only?)

and is the premium and professional the same price? the way I read it was the home premium is £30 and the professional is £30 ontop of that?

No, you can choose between either for £30, so naturally I got the Professional edition, as it includes everything in Home Premium + domain support and a few other things that you more than likely will never use - but better to have them and not need them, I reckon.

It is a download and they (I think it goes through digitalriver or someone similar) email you the registration key (if you have an unlimited storage email account, its a good idea to get it emailed there so you dont delete it).

You can buy the discs, but thats £9 on top to cover printing the disc and postage etc.

The motherboard and processor you put up on one of your posts has had great reviews! so id go for that if youve got the money!

as for cooling that, id go for an aftermarket cooler, and the intel one is alrite, but for the extra dosh id get one of these:

and then at least 4gb of ram, as its cheap these days! id go for this, again tested and great reviews in that board with processor!

and as for graphics cards, if you could push a lil over £100 you could get one of these:

also your motherboard supports Crossfire, so when you have some case, get another and slap it in there, nice setup those 2 cards are!

then main part, a powersupply, you need to see what your plans are, if your going to add another graphics card they youd need a bigger watt psu! id go for a brand name like these, ive used these in every build ive done, and they are fab!

then the rest is pretty simple, can pick up a cheap 1TB harddrive for about £60ish so worth a look! again this one here has good reviews, and 2 of these in Raid, beat raptors ;)
