ESCORT-X4GC
Hi All !!! When I got my Mk6 Cab I only had one Black Red Chip Key (With the Removable Torch) and the Red Master Key, I have recently started having trouble getting into my boot as the Key is getting a bit rounded off so I am wanting a New one !!! I have heard different things about getting a New Key, one of which is that all I need to do is get a Red Chip Blank of ebay or the likes and get it cut, then using my Red Master Key I can program it to the Car myself, is this correct ??? In a similar topic in this Section it was mentioned that there was a guide to do this but due to the Topic being 3 years old I think its well gone !!! Any help or advise would be great !!! Correct. Get the key cut, use the red key to turn your ignition on, wait until the PATS light goes out then turn off, wait a second or so and the PATS light will come back on, insert the new black key and turn ignition on. Done.

LiamGTR
I have a red key, but it's not ALL red it just has a red square/flap on the top corner ?
SteveB
I have a red key, but it's not ALL red it just has a red square/flap on the top corner ? No - that's known as a black key. The red tab just signifies that it has a transponder chip in it. A red key is literally red all over.

You can also get keys with chips cut online from the key code.
