rob888
Hi All Have just bought a mk6 escort cabriolet currently with mondeo st24 16" alloys, front tyres are 205/50zr16 rears 205/55zr16.However Speedo seems way out...sooo I am thinking tyre profile is off. Any ideas what size tyres should be on these rims? Have been told 205/45 zr 16 ..is this right? Any help greatly received..new tyres going on tomorrow and want to make sure they are the right ones! Cheers Rob
dutchkev
best is 195/45/16 imo - but 205/45/16 works just as well
rob888
best is 195/45/16 imo - but 205/45/16 works just as well Thank you for prompt reply , its all been a bit of a whirlwind...the wife said she had seen this escort, next thing money disappears from bank and suddenly an escort appears on drive. The prevoius owner had let tyres down so noone nicked the car whilst he sold it..but in doing do the tyre walls are all cracked, so after a bit of persausion he is going to replace all of them tomorrow ...but having checked what tyres were on the car wanted to make sure he gets the correct tyres. Could having the wrong size wall tyres affect the speedo as it does seem rather off at the moment?

rob888
Ahh thats a relief we have about 5 speed cameras along our stretch of road and I am currently having to make sure I am doing ten miles an hour less than what the speedo says to make sure I dont get flashed. So thats the tyres sorted......just got to sort the Idle control valve now..... Cheers
