gizmo001i
Ok, I have just bought a 1998 Escort 1.6 CL. This was originally going to be a stop gap until I get some money that I am waiting on to get a newer car. However, I like the Escort, she only cost £280 with 10 months MOT and she has only done 65000 miles. Looking at the price of cars, I don't think I would get any less mileage by spending about £1000 on another car. The engine is sound, so I am seriously thinking of getting the bodywork professionally done, so as to make a good car that will last me. I know I would need the sills replacing and the two rear arches. Obviously I would then need a respray where the work has been carried out. I would also then want any stone chips sorted out. Does anyone have any idea as to what sort of cost I am looking at. I live on the South coast in Eastbourne. Any ideas ( I know they can't be exact, just after a ball park figure) will be very appreciated. Many thanksIan

Decent paint job u prob be looking at £1500 upwards it depends where you take it it pays to shop around with estimates and ask to see some of there previous work to see quality of it,to be honest you pay for what you can afford just look around, wheel arches are about £15 each and sills are bout the same for pattern ones... gizmo001i
Thanks, I will give it a go once the money comes through. It seems sensible to make the body good on the Escort seeing as the engine is good instead of going out and buying an unknown car.
SLEEMAN
you can probably get that lot done for alot less, if you supplied the parts and also if you can remove bodyparts yourself, for example the easy stuff like lights, mirrors, bumpers etc then it will reduce the cost as thats less labour they have to do! PeeWee
If you shop around you will get that done for £6-£700.
Simon69
If you shop around you will get that done for £6-£700. ive spent a good couple months look for a good body shop to do my Van, ive been quoted everything from 3k to £700 the guy ive gone with is sound took the time to look over the van asked me loads of questions of my wants etc and then showed me around his shop so i could see his work, needless to say he got the Job. i returned from there earlier today after taking some progress pics and im happy to report i picked the right man for the job and at a very affordable price too. it pays to take your time and shop around
