HoldTilSold_co_uk Posted January 25, 2011 Author Share Posted January 25, 2011 as ive always said every time i have discussed my car, try find me another simular milage/ condition!if i sell mine for £3500 and i wanted another high spec very low milage mk3 or 4 with no rust what so ever or repairs and i have £3500 to spend, where would i find one?you search and i'm almost certain you wont find one.if you do then please send me a link to it as i aint seen one since the 90's That may be, but in the fickle Ford world, badges mean everything. It's a lovely car, and you might get fair money for it, but will only ever be a Bonus with a Zetec lump in it, which will limit its value for the forseeable future. Until the MK4 ends up like the MK1/2, with any 3dr shell being valuable, but that isn't guaranteed of course. Good luck to you if you do get what you think it's worth, but I really think you should just keep it, finish it off, and use the thing. It's been on and off for so many years!well you say that but i am a massive ford fan and have had 51 fords and soon to be 52 if i get the focus im after.the main thing to me is a good base, its no use having all the fancy bits if its just to cover up a rusty high milage shell.all you have to do is look at the anglia/ mk1 / mk2 escort boys, it makes no odds to them what the shell was to start with, just as long as it is a good one otherwise your just wasting your time.we all would love original rs's with super low milage non rusty shells but they are virtually non existant and the few that are left are telephone numbers.value all depends on what people are prepared to pay, i have alot of interest in my car at 3500 and to be honest if i sell it at that then i just dont know what i would replace it with coz 3500 buys you pretty much nothing at all, was looking at vw golfs or audi tdi's but a low milage tidy one is way over 3500. if i wanted an escort mk3/4 to replace it with then i couldnt find a better one than mine for 3500 thats for sure Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm not denying it's very clean, and would be very hard to replace with another original shell, but people are still very fickle with badges, especially on the post 1980 stuff. People with the classic cars can't afford to be so fussy, but the badge and ID still means a lot to many people. If you have people interested for that money, then good luck to you, each to their own and all that, but that's tidy S2 money for me, and I know where my money would go.
