don't talk to marcus if he is there as he is useless!

lmao not sure who i spoke to but i rang again yesturday and they had emailedthe supplyers ( being hadrians) and they told me they have orderd them ... ... no price told as yet tho but hey so yet another day gone by and still no phone call from ian lol never mind tho as ive got a quote for £90 +vat each and ians place said they gonna keep em on the shelf if i dont get them there any ways but im still waiting for a price. not=w for some other questions lol

been thinking that seeming tho im doing the chassis rails and gonna get the car stable and safe im thinking :pancake: ZETEC TURBO :pancake: lol but!!!!! im no expert far from it on escorts but i can how ever tell you how to build one and even build you one for banger racing with my eyes shut lol thats where my experience comes from with escorts as well as having near around 13 of them in the past 4 years lol sooooooooo questions questions questions indeed...

silver top or black top zetec?

ive been reading up on zetec turbos but im getting confused ( very easy i must add lol ) am i correct in saying that the diffrence being from the 2 is the rotation of the water pump??? or is that the difference from the 1.8 to the 2.0???

im looking at getting a 2.0 and striping it down before xmas n at least making a start on things but i wanna do it properly not throw it together like we do in bangers lol

soo i know theres the pistons, rods, engine bore, inlet, engine mngmnt, exhaust manifolds n stuff sump and oil pump from 1.8, and some other bits that are just bouncing about in my head somewere lol but im gonna need contacts for some bits and i dont know were to start, what pistons are good, reliable and relitivly cheap? i want to go 2.1 idealy so i know theres the 86mm forged pistons. am i confusing you yet or just confusing myself lol

novice aint the word here but i do like fiddling with engines and seeing the work through.

any advice n contacts i.e websites or anything for pistons or anything that willl help coz atthe moment im just browsing ebay for pistons which at £700+ is kinda a big chunk to steal from the wallet at the beginning of things.

hope im not taking the Pee with this post guys sorry if i am ;)

£700 is a drop in the ocean to the total cost of a zetec turbo conversion. Don't kid yourself!

i realise its gonna cost a couple of grand minimum but thats if i stop there lol what i ment was that are there any other things i should know about and infact get before other things start? would port n polished heads be good for this? or a must? i could get the big end bearings n stuff and realy get bits together before i start cant i lol any advise on were the best place to get bits from is or anything? any advise is surely greatful :-)

Most "2.1" engines aren't 2.1 at all, they're 2045cc which is 2.0 if you round it correctly. You'd need to go to 86.25mm+ bore size to get a true 2.1. The reality is you'd never notice a difference between the two.

You don't need to use a 2 litre engine to turbocharge. In some ways the 1.8 is better for turbocharging as it has better cooling around the cylinders than the 2 litre. However, i've never seen a 2L fail due to cylinder cooling issues so it's not really a problem.

There are a lot of things to these conversions beyond a shopping list and to be honest it's more than you'll find out on forums. I highly recommend you buy a complete engine package from someone like Area Six as you'll save yourself a lot of trouble in the end.
