Hi guys i need a bit of advice, my drivers window coesnt work so i though it may have come off the runner, so i took off the doorcard etc to investigate and it looks like the wire has snapped between the motor and runner :S can this be fixed and how? the motor still works you can hear it when you push the button, i have pics if they are needed.

Thanks in advance

If you can get to it and there's plenty of lengh in the wires either side then get crimping with an electrical connector :thumb:

sorry i didnt mean an electrical wire its a metal wire lol

dont bother trying.

unless you can seamlessly repair the steel thread cable in some miraculous way that I am unaware of then it will never work properly again.

to explain why is simple, any repair done to the cable would have to be capable of travelling through the motor housing and the runner as at one point or another it will have to do just that.

Any repair capable of doing that would likely be to time consuming or expensive to achieve in comparison to the alternative much easier and practical repair method.

ergo.........

bin the broken one and replace it with a scrapper lecky window regulator, it really is that.....

That's great thanks I'll take it, how hard will it be to fit?

looks harder than it is.

you'll need to take the door inner trim off.

glass is bolted on with 2x chunky brass coloured bolts, undo them (the window has to be fully closed for this) then with the window half open lift the glass out the guide and turn it slightly till you can remove it from the door entirely.

drill out 7x rivets (2x top of regulator slide, 2x bottom of regulator slide, 3x regulator motor) then twist the whole thing about till you can get it out (make sure to pull the wiring plug out of the motor before you over stretch the wire)

get hold of some fair length M6 (50-60mm) bolts and nuts to fit the replacement as riveting a secondhand unit in can be a utter pain in the shitpiece.

jobs a goodun
