JAMGTI
the 3 pins are for the heated window and the rear wiper, mine stoppe working once but started again after i pressed all the fuses and relays in but might have been a coincidence, also check plug hasn't come off switch

shawdreamer
the 3 pins are for the heated window and the rear wiper, mine stoppe working once but started again after i pressed all the fuses and relays in but might have been a coincidence, also check plug hasn't come off switch the boot release also functions via the earth plates aswell as the demister and wiper. if it didn't you'd be able to continuously fire the release solenoid when the boot is open. common issues with OP problem. 1. Solenoid seizure - simple solution, replace solenoid (two nuts hold it in place and it has two close plugs for connections) difficulty - simple 2. Earth plate dirty - again simple, use some fine sand paper to rub the accumulated grime off the contact surfaces. difficulty - very simple 3. Earth connection points damaged - beneath the three points the wires are directly connected to the top of the brass by a kind of screwed clamp, the pins are one a spring setup so they can move up and down, unfortunately this eventually flexes the connection points and they snap away. you can either replace the original screwed clamp, use another clamp type (a "lego block" type wire connector can be used if stripped of its plastic exterior), failing those you can simply opt for the more advisable approach and solder the wire directly to the pins brass end (the brass of the pin and the copper of the wire are perfectly compatible for soldering together) difficulty - fiddly and time consuming specially if your not used to using a soldering iron and go for that option. 4. Wire damage - now this is a absolute pain in the rectum, near impossible to diagnose and next to miraculous to locate (your better off just ripping out the existing wiring and replacing if this is the cause) difficulty - don't even bother if you have no Patience.....if you have tpft you'd be better of parking up in a secluded field and chuckin a match on it......cos that's what you'll feel like doing after fighting with it
