Naylor2006
Hello all, Ive done a search and have found on these forums what I need to know about chrome bits and bobs but I was wondering if I could be pointed in the right directory for two other questions. Where can I find the appropiate SAMCO kit (or simular) for a MK6 engine bay with a 2.0l zetec in it, im assuming it would be exactly the same for the 1.6l and 1.8l? Im looking for induction and the coolant pipes, well any that are on show idealy. Ive done a search online and theres loads for the mk5 rs2000 but i cant seem to pin down one for my setup, rather not go custom and cut to size myself. Second point, and im sure this has been covered alot, can someone point me in the direction of a 'paint your rocker cover' guide please Many thanks

Ahmotorsport
Well painting your rocker cover, clean it all off to shiny metal, rub the metal down with 320 grit, 3 coats of primer, when they're dry, rub the primer down with 320, apply a few coats of colour and if you wish too (i never have) lacquer it. lee grout
Use the 'search' button and there'll be a guide for doing your rocker cover. . As for hoses, www.sfsperformance.co.uk, www.auto-performance.co.uk/Silicone, www.jsperformance.co.uk , www.roosemotorsport.co.uk, www.demon-tweeks.co.uk Edited July 24, 2011 by lee grout
JC
IMO, get the rocker cover powder coated, as i've yet to see a decent paint job on a rocker cover last!

And the friendly thing to do would be to link me to the guide which i still can't find lol. Was up at 4am for work today, called in it might be why I can't see it. Anything to be weary of when taking the cover off, like making sure nothing gets in the open head for example?
JC
Quick search: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Roose-Mspt-MK6-E...=item33654f8066 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Escort-1-6-1-8-Z...=item3cb8bc9d82 are available in blue. I would go the whole lot... when you take the rocker cover off, use a new gasket, and I always end up using a bit of instant gasket paste too. and yes the 1.6 / 1.8 will be fine for you 2.0, as the hoses were not changed from the original 1.6 ones, and do the job fine Edited July 24, 2011 by Lordjc

What's the gasket called? Rocker gasket? Sorry bout the questions, eBay usually answers them all but there's no eBay on the work network and because of where I work the mobile reception is really bad. Should probably search eBay at home before posting in future but it's good to interact.... Work with computers all day, try to avoid mine when i get home. Anyways, thanks for the quality advice, it's what I come here for. PS Lining up a full engine rebuild for later this year to extend the life of the car and clean that mother out! Can't wait! Ross has done so much good work, mostly the harder stuff too!
JC
Ask as many questions as you like! I've often asked what have people used / done before, as anyone can search, but advice from experience is invaluable! Link to the one I have had: gasket Gasket paste If you are putting a new cover on, I put new shiny bolts on too bolts I would be tempted to leave the engine until it has issues, as its a good runner and running sweet. Buts that's just my opinion. Its been well looked after as he knows what he is doing! I think: http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac263/lordjc1983-2/ross/DSC04169.jpg I would underseal it when you get it, as I don't think it has ever been done
Naylor2006
Half the reason I bought it was cause it was looked after, I always had that impression, just kinda wanna 'brand new it'. Heh, how many people get what they want when they want when it comes to modding. It will be a while before I get round to a rebuild but it's a plan cause I'm in it for the long run. You mean paint the whole underneath with that sealant stuff? I'm sure Halfords do it. First job is tyres and sound system..... Thanks for the links man Ps: now that I'm bluing it up in the engine bay do you mind if I swap the ignition leads, because they are blue?
