mcflycossie
How can I find out what type of black my GTi is ? I always thought my car was Ash Black but I just found the original paper work that says it is panther. Is there anyway I can find out for sure ? shawdreamer
there very distinctive but I guess I can see why you would struggle with out a comparison or prior experience with both. Ash black has a very high metalic flake content, so much so that despite appearing flat black at distance when up close the paint seems more like a very dark grey. as appose to Panther which is a very deep gloss black that really shouldnt ever be mistaken for anything but black. rule of thumb I guess here is "if you not 100% sure your paint is Ash Black then more likely chances are its Panther" example.... mines Ash Black and some of my SUYM threads pics demonstrate the colour quite well, however, heres the wing mirrors I sprayed which show the flake level quite well.http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/20985.jpg
Craig855S
McFly, just from memory of your SUYMK topics (without even checking them, just remembering from when i saw them a long time ago)....yours is Panther

Craig855S
As shaw says, ash black is actually quite grey looking, wheras panther is a deep gloss black. Black black, not grey black Yep, panther, no doubt in my mind
mcflycossie
Nice one. Cheers chaps. I've bought the GTi back but she is in a proper sorry state. Found this under the spoiler so thought it would be best to replace rather than repair. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0182.jpg
