Wide arched mk6 project

So after talks with a few people, i decided given that i was finding rust, i should probably take the skirts off to see what they were hiding. Turned out slightly better than i was imagining, but its still a pretty big state underneath now.

Given that needs doing, and the front bumper mount has been chopped about and cut i'm starting to doubt wether its worth doing...

Skirt off:

Wing off:

Mess underneath:

And it gets worse:

Front bumper mount chopped rolled and whatever else:

Parts that go from the bumper/light mount, round to support the wings is missing:

And some more nice wiring where the side repeaters have been removed:

A little more from today. Got bored of grinding out the rust so took a break to do some other bits and start removing the foam:

One arch clear:

Wheel well gets the same treatment:

And i noticed some damage to where the rear light mounts. Not sure whats been done or why, but it looks like fiberglass. Can these panels be removed and replaced easily?

Hopefully ill get it back to looking a similar standard it was before, but sort out the problems underneath at the same time.

If anyone can gimme a clue as to what they are id appreciate it :P I assume at least one connects to the engine for injectors and so on?

Cheers guys. With the replies and some looking on RSBible i think ive got it all sorted :) Unfortunately now nothing will be getting done until the new year. Snows started and the gazebo just wont stand up to it, so its covered up until better weather.

@Scort_CVH - Have you done this conversion before? I saw your thread but didnt see it finished. I'm after some info about getting powersteering and what engine mount to use. Am i right to assume you can just use the one from the 1.4?

Christ, you'd never have guessed what lurked underneath the exterior. I'm surprised with the bodges considering the work the previous owner did on other areas of the car.

It looks like you're pretty handy with the spanners and obviously have a stange love of welding, so hopefully we'll see this on the road with the new engine next year :)

You got a timeframe of when you want to see it completed?

Honestly, i dont expect to get it done it time for the shows next year. I hadnt actually planned on doing something like this and so had no money saved to spend on it. The shell came along at a low price and was local so itl a month by month thing unfortunately. Im trying to do it all properly, get the engine rebuilt etc and given the cost involved, i should imagine it will be done by the back end of next year. Im aiming to do as much as possible myself, so I'm sure theres going to be lots of learning involved.
