Welshy_Pete Posted March 17, 2012 Share Posted March 17, 2012 Hello sometimes I drive my friend ford mondeo 1.6 its done 224,500miles! But still going strong. Anyhow we fitted a k&n awhile ago but the car doesn't like performace air filters. If you put your foot down from stand still of the mark it splutters misfires and then dies if you keep trying. If you drive of normal its fine it wont do it. Also over a certon rev say like around 2000rmp or more it will be fine when foot to the floor or near it. But if you try floor it or near to it a quick way out of a junction etc. below around 2000rpm the problem kicks in all gears. The car fully serviced had the lot done. But putting back the old air filter clears the problem up. But it seems strange it dont like performance air filters. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have a feeling that its getting very hot and there isnt a proper cold air feed and rather than spending loads of a cone filter enclosure and cold air feed I might as well go back to what has been designed for the engine and stick a panel filter in.
