Bertrum
I have an xr2 iv just put a 1.8 zetec in with 2.0l cams maf and ecu, i brought everthing to fit it to my xr2 but now ive got it in it wont run. It did fire up the other day but would rev up n down up n down and had a misfire. Now it has no spark at the plugs, i have noticed a orange and blue wire from the wiring loom that looks like it has come out of the ecu but im no expert so hope someone on here knows, i will put links to pics up but has any one got pin diagrams for the ecu as its a DESK one and has any one got wiring diagram for a mk5 and mk6 escort wiring loom as im unsure which it is, maybe someone will be able to tell from pics, cheers peps. http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w494/Tom_Harding/Snapbucket/483856a7.jpg.http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w494/Tom_Harding/Snapbucket/57e0a782.jpg. http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w494/Tom_Harding/Snapbucket/8AD36D1E.jpghttp://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w494/Tom_Harding/Snapbucket/90ECE6DA.jpg. http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w494/Tom_Harding/Snapbucket/41783797.jpghttp://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w494/Tom_Harding/Snapbucket/208C42D3.jpg. Stu
DESK is the wrong ECU for a 1.8 engine. You'd probably be better of looking for an early external PATS 1.8 ECU from a Mondeo or RS1800.
Bertrum
DESK is the wrong ECU for a 1.8 engine. You'd probably be better of looking for an early external PATS 1.8 ECU from a Mondeo or RS1800.It worked and run fine in the car of the kiddy i brought it of, desk if im rite in saying is from a 2.0l mondeo and the engine has 2.0 cams, maf and ecu. It is the wong ecu for the engine yeah but i have been told its should be fine and it was fine until i put it in my car. All im after is wiring diagram and desk ecu pin layout as like i say i have this wire that looks like it should be pluged in ecu but its not and have been told this could be the route to my probs if i can find out which hole it goes in on the ecu so if anyone has diagrams please can u post on here. If anyone has a DESK ecu wiring diagram please post. So you buy an engine on a Fiesta forum, from someone who knows what they're doing, but you can't figure it out so you sign up to an Escort forum and ask for advice. When you receive advice, you dislike it, and continue to proclaim your fiesta forum mate knows what he's doing, yet you're still asking on an Escort forum? I have wiring diagrams for all of the ECU's but if you think i'm going to waste my breath spoon-feeding you them... Various wiring diagrams have been posted on this site before, especially for the DESK ECU. Spend 5 minutes pulling your head out of your rectum and use the search feature. Stu
The DESK ECU has a calibration for a 2 litre engine. You have a 1.8 litre engine. It doesn't matter if you put 2.0 cams in it, it still flows the air of a 1.8. Sure, the engine may 'work', but is it running 'right'? Then no. As I said before, you'd probably be better of looking for an early external PATS 1.8 ECU from a Mondeo or RS1800. With the appropriate MAF sensor and injectors, you're a lot closer to a proper running engine than with a 2.0 ECU. The cams are not really giving you anything so you don't need to change calibration away from a 1.8. Being external PATS it also makes your life easier when wiring up the conversion. Of course, the same applies to the DESK ECU, which is also external PATS. You'd have to tell us exactly what model and engine the loom you have is from to look up what an orange/white wire is for. I have read so much in to this its startin to confuse as to many ppl say different things. Everyone on the xr2 forum say that DESK is okey to run with that engine and the cams will make a little difference but not much

JC
Stu does have a point... please refrain from childish insults If you need a full wiring diagram I'd get a copy of Ford TIS (haynes is useless IMO) lots of ppl sell copies on ebay. I could scan the odd page, most of the wiring info you should need is in the how to section I run a DESK ECU with a 2.0 zetec, the wiring is the same as the MK6 escort, with the exception of 4 pin changes at the ECU end on the wiring Edited April 2, 2012 by JC
