FITTING TIPS

Bought some carpet backs for my GTI rear seats got really frustrated trying to fit them, in the end just got the top edge in and just tucked the bottom edge under the seat to keep it in place. Am i struggling because these were'nt meant for GTI seats with leather bead around or is there just a knack to fitting them. Any advice much appreciated tomsy

I have a plastic trim removal tool that allows the edge of the carpet to be forced between the bead and the metal.

 

Also double sided velcro along the bottom helps

The carpets should fit any MK6 seat, Fitted some to a few escorts now and yes can be fiddly. I got the top section pushed in first then worked around the seat pushing the lip of the carpet into the gap in the seat, sometimes pushing it in with a small flat bladed screwdriver, shouldn't need to take the edging off though.

Thanks for that was thinking of using something wider like a paint scraper, might give this a go when im feeling more patient.

should be pretty easy as said above, they used velcro to get them snug too
