ganges
Yet another great update, but again the more i am seeing this Quattro coming on, the more I am pretty damn sure my old quattro did not have a turbo, my manifold deffinatley did not have turbo written on it, and sure as hell did not look that big. Now not being a mechanic, even i can see that those engine parts, have had a serious butchering, i am supprised the thing even ran.If it was that 5 cylinder engine in sure it should have a turbo. Yeah they aren't healthy, some of it is the garage across the road, they took it apart, the manifold, oil cooler and intercooler all had to be welded up as they left the bolts in and just tore it off, or that's what it looks like. Top job on that fannymould.Cheers Sid Yeap 5 cylinder for sure, but have now confirmed, it def did not have a turbo on, I think my model was an MB, as per last comment REG No E660 MMT, but can not find any more info, how basara

Ahmotorsport
Quattro is getting there slowly. Yesterday, i decided i couldn't put up with the old mans paint job on the timing cover, so i took it back to bare metal, i got rid of as much rust as i could, but there was still pitting left, so i decided to prime and guide coat it, which i did and it turned out brilliant, i will be guide coating a lot more often, it made such a difference. Alfa went for it's MOT, wants a drivers side ball joint. Also, before the MOT we found the exhaust silencer was absolutely shot, but we also see that someones welded the whole lot up, so might be going for a whole system, yet to speak to the owner. http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000076.jpg Quattro PAS pipes http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000682.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000702.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000672.jpg Timing cover back to bare metal http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000722.jpg Primed and guide coat applied http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000732.jpg Wet sanded down (ran out of sand paper, so couldn't go any further) http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000733.jpg Glossed http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000742.jpg Quattro 'ready to go on' department http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000743.jpg Manifold take offs painted gold - factory http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000752.jpg PAS pump rebuilt and fitted
sidrick
How did you get the strut caps off the Quattro to remove the shock absorbers? Do you have the special tool or did you just use stillsons? http://www.zdmak.com/wbstore/images/2069A.jpg

sidrick
I'm talking about what I pictured Essentially a hollow tube with a 32-33mm hex at the bottom that slides over the shocker tube to undo the cap and allows the shock absorber to be removed wit hthe strut in situ. Fancy making another??

sidrick
Well, they should be, take the photo from my old car: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/SDC13273.jpg and your one: http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_001130.jpg Cap screws onto the outside of the strut, no? Could send you down a cap if you could knock a tool up and let me know how much you'd want for your troubles

Could do, or, depending on how urgently you need one, when we've done the back we could send up what we used.
sidrick
No rush for it mate, so I can wait. Would appreciate a couple of photos of your DIY tool if you get a chance though, just so I can confirm it'd do for me.

Ahmotorsport
Update time. Alfa is nearly finished, we just need a cork to fit on the sender unit as the old one would no longer float, it's got it's MOT so we blasted it up the road and it went very well! We've got a Sunbeam Talbot 90 coming in at some point, A Saph Cos coming in with an over heating problem, another Saph Cos coming in for a service and to get road worthy and also the Sierra Cos racer that needs an engine rebuilt and i think i'm going to be doing some painting on it too, finally a Porsche 928 turned up yesterday, it ran out of fuel and has never been the same since, so we've got to investigate into that. http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000091.jpg Old Alfa system http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000092.jpg Manifold back on with new gaskets and nuts http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000093.jpg New top arm fitted http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000094.jpg New system on http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000096.jpg Tail pipe http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000097.jpg Engine http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000098.jpg Doing the tracking, it was 2 degrees out, amazing what dry storage does to motors!? xD http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000100.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000101.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000102.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000103.jpg
