ganges
Why do you keep saying WR is an engine? Edit: I see what you're saying now. Carry on LOL done a little bit of research this monring, they also did an RR engine, but for the life of me, can i remember which one I had I think the RR was also turbo because it's basically the same as the motor in my car Do you mind the reg of your car? working on it Sid, is your engine a five cylinder?? i did not think they did them anymore just remembered reg Number E660 MMT Edited September 28, 2012 by ganges
Ahmotorsport
Stripped down my brothers (Kelvin) Chevy engine. My Lord, it's the worst engine i've taken to bits in a long time (damage wise) I couldn't believe it! He's been racing it like this! So lets begin. Looking down the bores, looks like it's got a bit hot at some point and tried to seize. I remove the sump to see the nice looking Chevy crank, i remove a piston. The big end shell fell out of it because somebody has used a hammer to get it out previously and it 'curled up' (i was using my fingers, just to be clear! lol) All big end shells were the same, some of them didn't even have the tags left! All very bronze, ripply and overall, fubared! I inspect the pistons, also looks like someone has taken a punch, or chisel to them to get them out. I inspect the crank, fubared, very rippled. Whoever stripped and rebuilt that engine prior was an absolute animal and deserves to be shot! xD Moral of the story is, it wants a new crank at least. http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000029-1.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000030.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000032.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000033.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000034.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000035.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000036.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000037.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000038.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000031.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000039.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000028.jpg Some random Audi Quattro bits. Ahmotorsport
Every morning the old man has to go to his Dads, pick his dog up, then go back to the old shop, take the dogs for a walk, then come back to work (drops me off at the new place before hand) so on the way in he says "Get Kelvins Chevy heads a part" So i gets in, has a coffee and away i go. He gets back "Oh, you've done the heads then?" "Well, you asked me to" "Yeah but you weren't supposed to be able to do it?" "Why's that?" "There's a big b4stard valve spring compressor you need to do them, not that little one because the valve springs are too stiff" "Oh......Sorry." xD He's right though, i've got arms the size of footballs now and a nackered wrist xD Also the Alfa was looking very mucky. So once i finished off getting the wiper motor in and sorted i got the cleaning stuff out, also tried some new wax called "Blitz wax" highly recommended, car looks pukka now. http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000046-1.jpg Chevy vs Duratec http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000048-1.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000049-1.jpg Now onto the Alfa http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000050-1.jpg There's a 'before and after' shot, didn't come out too well, can't really see a lot in the picture, but it was a big difference http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000054.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000053.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_000051-1.jpg

Ahmotorsport
Paint shop was open today, got some Quattro bits cleaned up and painted. http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000592.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000602.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000612.jpg http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000622.jpg I think that manifold looks the bollox there! Also, one of the many Cosworths came down with a charging fault, 10 minute job. http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/WP_0000652.jpg
ganges
Yet another great update, but again the more i am seeing this Quattro coming on, the more I am pretty damn sure my old quattro did not have a turbo, my manifold deffinatley did not have turbo written on it, and sure as hell did not look that big. Now not being a mechanic, even i can see that those engine parts, have had a serious butchering, i am supprised the thing even ran.

Yeah they aren't healthy, some of it is the garage across the road, they took it apart, the manifold, oil cooler and intercooler all had to be welded up as they left the bolts in and just tore it off, or that's what it looks like. Top job on that fannymould.Cheers Sid
