help starter not starting all the time

hi guys recently my car acting wired go to start sometimes start fine no problem but other time ur go to start key turned as to start it nothing happens for a few seconds and other time u have to turn it off then back on n turn key all way n starter will kick in help will be grately appreciated thanks

starter is about to die! get it changed!!! i had that once and i thought wtf thought it could have been the immobiliser etc. but then it completely died lol so get it changed before it dies completely!

Check connections are tight at the battery and starter.

 

Do you have a multimeter? Whats the voltage across the battery whilst cranking.

 

Is it slow cranking?

thanks guys for quick repies and oh ok thanks had it off today cleaned all connections n suppose i will have to replace it thanks guys its a cvh so right at the front so nice to get to lol thank you x

the mk4 escorts also fitted with cvh engines used to suffer from starter probs as they are exposed to water and dirt because of there position terminals corrode they also have a hard life as they are cooked by the exhaust and the rs models had a heat shield to try to protect them

Is the starting problem temperature related? No CVH starts when its hot :')
