shenaf
Hi i have a 1.6 16v zetec escort and i was wondering if an oil catch tank is worth fitting on a non turbo engine . or is it just something that looks good in the engine bay?

JC
If you track the car, or have a K&N then in my opinion worth having

Andy 3i
I'm guessing that if you run an aftermarket filter but can't/don't use the breather pipe to return back into the inlet I'm guessing the minimal vapour is going to cause an issue? I know that your not meant to let the oil vent to atmosphere for some reason...I believe mot purposes
Stu
K&N has a hole in it for the breather pipe to go back onto, or at least they used to.
Andy 3i
Well yes they do, but if a budget Wong pong filter is used without a breather hole, a seperate breather filter can be used. I'm guessing that's what Jc is referring to? So instead of using a little filter, a catch can could theoretically be used to keep the engine sealed. Obviously it makes no performance gains whatsoever and it would make the engine bay even more cluttered.
shenaf
so which pipes would you connect it to i would of though somewhere around the crank ventilation but would you then use the rocker cover hose or the other side of the crank ventilation?
