Specialised Engines H would be my choice down that way, he's very capable. Specialised do some strange things sometimes, but they'd probably warranty their work somewhat. Best start saving "Dan thank you for your email I have put prices in below for the cost of the rebuild on the engine and fitting prices and if you need any help or advice you will get me on 01375 378606, thank you Ian. Fully reconditioned 1.4 CVH Engine £1095.00 plus vat.Remove old and refit when rebuilt £250.00 plus vat.Oils, oil filter gaskets and antifreeze £89.00 plus vat. Subtotal £1434.00Vat £286.80Total £1720.80. Engine Specs 1.4 CVH standard.With all our engines the cylinder block and the cylinder head are cracked tested, acid bath dipped and hot washed chemically cleaned, all of our engines come with a new oil pump, new main and new big end bearings, reground crankshaft to the first oversize, 4 new oversize pistons as all the blocks are over bored and honed, with new rings and Goodgeon pins, new core plugs, new oil seals and all new gaskets, phosphor bronze valve guide liners, three way valve seat cutting, new valve springs, new cam followers, new rocker nuts, new camshaft, new late type valve stem oil seals (top hat type)." Lol always a good level she doesn't use any, even had an oil and filter change with decent oil and a motorcraft filter to spend 1800 quid on a 1.4 escort is beyond mental. Either replace the whole car, with a younger escort, move away from escorts altogeher, or buy and fit a zetec engine into your current chassis (if youre wierdly attatched to it) Think it may be a trip to my usual garage first to let him investigate it further.
