antcull
Hi I have a strange problem with my van i was hoping someone ma have some advice with.I have a 1999 escort van wit a 1,8 TD (top mount intercooler) in it (running pre pats)runs fine and pulls well in 1st then in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th when you hit about 1500 - 2000 rpm it is as if you hit a "wall" that if you keep your foot on the throttle you can (sometimes) push throughother times you can not so change up then a few mins later when in 2nd or 3rd it will cut out, so drop it down a gear and bump it and it re-starts and it has confused the hell out of me.Its had a new fuel filter (was doing this before filter change), Battery is good, stop valve is good and wire`s been renewed, alternator is good any advise is much appreciated,Thanks in advance,Tony

scottybo
maybe a boost leak? i had a hole on the air pipe between the carb and the engine on my bike and it behaved exactly like that until i replaced the pipe Edited September 6, 2013 by scottybo

supersport
may sound silly, but have you checked the throttle cable on the pump? see if there is any slack on the cablethen adjust it. had it on a mondeo years ago, owner asked what i'd done to it as it went better! antcull
yeah I adjusted throttle cable as soon as I got the van back (sold it to my mate and regretted it the moment I gave him the key lol)its had a new fuel filter and lift pump and fuel is getting to the injectors so will check boost pipes tomorrow and go from there. antcull
Ok sorted it, previous owner (my mate) replaced the fuel filter but nicked the top rubber seal so it was sucking in air on full throttle and loosing power. I have replaced the filter and all is well
