shawdreamer
In reality it is a bit better, there is some blurring in the photo due to the illumination, but my trouble is that the lettering isn't lit... step-by-step instructions...... ....CLICK HERE
Georgio
Thank you very much for pointing it out.Unfortunately my backplates is not transparent on the lettering,so mine illuminates only from the leds I have installed on the top in front of the instruments.Nice work there, and very good how to. I only ask as generally ford have been using the backlighting aproach to their gauges since before the Mk3 escort (iirc) and still do in the more modern motors today, its quite unusual to find non-transparent dials in a ford of that age is all. Georgio
The backplates are changed.I bought the car at 2000 second hand and the previous owner had changed them. The transparent plates that the facias stick on are there, but the facias where the lettering is typed is not transparent on the letters. Not sure if you understand in the way,I am describing it,not very good in English language handling, but I hope you understand. They were iluminated at first, but when the previous owner decided to use the white facias on the instrument panel, the new ones he purchased was not transparent in the numpers area. But you are right in saying that after some date,Ford used the backlighting. We also have a Sierra mk2,with registered date from 1991,and this has back iluminated cluster too. shawdreamer
no I get what your saying, you have stick-on facias with printed type. shame but you could always fit one of the strips I use in the front illumination slot for some techno bizarre colour changes I guess. Georgio
I did. This is what I've done.I used 3 10mm blue leds o n the top slot and pointed them towards the backplates. What you say about the led strip would be good if I would like to change colour at some time, just right you say.Perhaps I will do it.That's a good idea.
