Hi folks,

I'm an Escort newbie from Australia, and just purchased my very first car...a 1300gt Mk1 Escort.

As you might have realized, I'v never had one of these and I was going to start off bleeding the brakes and doing a few basic things but have no idea where the jacking points are.

I'v got the Gregory repair manual and it has no relevant info/diagram in there (it is an old workshop manual and is missing a few damaged pages).

Cheers folks,

maybe pm bronze4door, he has a mk1

i have two mk1 escorts and there is a hole at the front and hole in front of rear spring hanger on the chassis into which the jack fits it then bears against the floor which is meant to be re enforced at the sill but often this has been repaired poorly safest is a trolley ack under the front x member or diff case as the original jack can crush the sill if it is not strong enough

Cheers mate, yeh the will had already had someone incorrectly jack it up and iv had to get a panel beating mate to straighten that out again. Ok I'll jump on my creeper and search for those points on the chassis! :D

If anyone has a diagram and could send me a pic of it that would also be magnificent and totally appreciated!! :D

you don't need a diagram lol the holes are on the two main chassis rails they are about 25mm/1 inch in diameter but wouldn't use them unless you are sure of the floor strength
i jack mine up on the front cross member and the rear diff casing, as said it is the easiest and safest way to do it without damaging the car or yourself. Make sure you use axle stands too which will sit on the rear axle and either side of the jack on the front cross member
