mike_g21
Hey guys, it's been a very very long time since I've posted but I wondered if anyone can shed some light on the mess I've got.I've got a gti that I have just done the head gaskit and cam belt on it. I bought the car with the head gaskit blown and running rough. Its all back together properly but it has a bad misfire and when testing the ht leads cylinder one pulled off makes no change cylinder 2's lead makes it misfire a little more but cylinder 3 is going mental and sparking to anything and everything. I have changed spark plugs ht leads and coil pack and it makes no change. Errrr please help I'm losing the will to live. Any help will be welcomed thanks a lot guys

horizon
Silicon Grease around the ceramic of the plug will help this - very common problem on the zetec and this is what Ford used to do to prevent this.

mike_g21
Compression testing was on my list to do aswell I'm just having problems finding one that can get down to the spark plug holes as its quiet a deep head. Even if it is lacking compression in a cylinder would that cause the bad sparking.
