sexcort
ive got a mk 6 with a street fighter kit and 17s, at the mo its on standard suspension and the front bumper catches every now and then when i go on ramps. i didnt think about lowering it until a couple of days ago when my m8 was drivin my car and i was followin him, my wheels looked really puny and narrow from the back! ive got 205/40/17s, can anythin be dun to make em look wider or is lowerin the only option, and how much is safe? the rear bumper just looks to big for the wheels thanks
RobMk6
if you mean the wheels sit inside the arches too far then just get a set of spaces and new studs to match whatever you need

Rich
na standard suspension just the weight of his ice and the kit which makes it look low
Cossie Dave
I've just got a streetfighter front bumper and I had it lowered 60mm on 17's and it caught everywhere you go, 30mph speed bumps catch a lot but 20mph I can't get over at all. I just turn around and go back. I've got 18's on now and it still catches almost as much
Tythman
didnt think about lowering it until a couple of days ago when my m8 was drivin my car and i was followin him, my wheels looked really puny and narrow from the back! ive got 205/40/17s, can anythin be dun to make em look wider or is lowerin the only option, and how much is safe? the rear bumper just looks to big for the wheels 205/40/17s Whats the widest you can go? i thought that was quite wide for an escort. i could be wrong tho i'm no expert! sortedford
mine is lowerd like 30mm or summat as standard as it came with gti suspension. 205 is really the widest you wanna go in normall escort arches tho
John
GTi suspension is a whole 15mm lower than standard
Ex-Finesse
If you can't lower much, I'd suggest 18's to fill the arches. Choose wheels not more than 7.5' wide, and tyres of dimesons 215/35/18 and you should only need only a spot of arch work at the back
Cossie Dave
You should easily get away with 60mm drop on 17's as long as you go steady and watch out for pot holes
