HELP HELP HELP!!!

 

Was giving my car a fair bit of shet the other night "raggin it"

 

stopped up for a bit and the car started pissin with oil. not badly. well i topped it up and was fine for a bit was driving it sensible...

 

Well got abotu 10 mins away dipped the clutch to change down gear and the car cuts out

 

Tryed to start it all i hear is one "TICK" and thats it

 

Got it towed home went and checked it yesterday morning the oil leak has stopped (was coming from the oil filter) but the car still wont start!!!

 

It's not the battery as it's fine (got it checked at halfords as it's only 3 days old) the cars had a new alternator a few yrs back (but i would have thought that if the batt is fine the alternator would be fine too as it's charging it...)

 

So leads me to think it's the starter motor... anyone else agree? like i said all i hear when i turn the key the whole way is one "TICK" thats it....

 

I have power to everything else in the car tho. checked all my fuses/relays too.

u could have a doggie starter i had a problem where a small piece of metal went between the kog so it wouldnt turn best bet is take starter off n try while its off the car either way u can rule the starter out hope that helps

Could be the starter, try hitting it with a hammer and see if it starts after that.

 

Not a p*ss take by the way.

 

Sometimes the starter sticks and a knock with a hammer helps free it off.

does it turn over, take a spanner and try and turn the crank (if you still can on the newer ford engines). sounds like starter though, did you try bump/jump/push it down a hill starting it?

tryed jump starting it still dont work (the batt is def fine as i took it back to halfords and they tested it!)

 

It ticks once when i turn the key all the way

 

doesn't fire on anyof the plugs either as i took one out

oil coming from the air filter? soudns like what ralph (ex-finesse) had....either way its NOT healthy

oil filter mate not the air filter!!!... was leaking but thats sorted now

Is it possible it's not leaking anymore....... because it's all leaked out??

i've topped it all up and checked the dip stick the oil is fine!!! BACK TO THE PROBLEM OF THE CAR NOT STARTING :P

if yer getting a click it deffo sounds like the starter, take the terminals off it n give em a good clean then try again

i've taken them off and cleaned them already mate

waht if i push it along in neutral then whilst its running along put it in 1st then release the clutch?

it wont start.

 

try it in second though, thats the way to push start. use a hill if you can as you need a bit of momentum so that when you release the clutch it doesnt stop the car where it is.

wheres the earth point for the starter motor boys and gals? in a mk5b zetec?

I had a similar problem and it was the earthin point that was dodgy.

It comes off the gearbox next to the starter motor.
