fords remote locking

ok, i recently installed a interior map light that has the infra red sensor,

today i was lucky enough to be given a remote locking module, its number is 96fg15k600fa, i was told that 96fg15k600fbis the one that works, but it cant be much different can it, it locks all the doors on the door lock.

its got all the print on the front to say its rcl with dl cl and as,

but when i try to program in my remote key i cant,

the manual says i have to turn the red key to postion one, then back to two, and this'll make the clock light illuminate for 30seconds, but it doesnt happen.

what could it be, any ideas??

thought no escort came with the fords own remote locking?? only afterarket stuff to fit the central locking??

yeah no escort came with it as standard,

but the remote sensor is for sale at ford, the programing process is in the handbook, and the fiesta use's the same rcl box as the escort,

and the lecky sunroof loom has the remote locking sensor attachment.

so it all exists

just, theres no paper work on how to stick it togther and covering how to make it work,

so its not an easy thing to do.

just wondered if anyone else knows anything about the escort/fiesta locking kits

why dont you just add a after market cat 1 alram that can also activate the sunroof and wondows like ine does, alot simpler and easyer to repair if it goes wrong and also might make some discount on your insureance, and also a selling feature if you decide to sell

steve can ya let me know the part numbers, or what bits i need. i want Remote on the cheap.

cheers Rob

ok mate,

the light with the sensor is finis 1064376 and costs £45.78 including vat

the loom connecting it to the fuse box (also loom for lecky sunroof) is finis 1057020 and costs £16.57

the key is the older style two button key, make sure its infra red, you can tell the infra's cos they have a lil glass eye on the end, i got one for £10 from my local scrappy, the new blades are about £13 from ford, and cutting is about £10,

the remote locking control box is 96 FG 15K600 FA,

these were fitted to late fiesta gears from N reg to the end of mk5 production,

they were also fitted to late escort ghia x's. i got mine free, but theres one going on ebay at the minute for £40,

so in total working on those prices its gonna cost about £130-£150, unless you find some parts cheap or free you'd be better off getting a toad or clifford setup,

im only doing it cos im hoping to make mine into a show car and im trying to use only ford parts, that and i'v only paid about £60 for my parts :thumb:

thinking about it, since its so easy to install, you can easily do it yourself,

where as with a toad, if you get someone to do it, it'll be anything upto £100-150 just for them to fit it 8o so it is quite cheap,

on the other hand, having used it for only a day, i'v found lots of limitations with it, the remote only works when its got a clear line of sight to the sensor, and has a range of 5 meters, which is sort of pointless, may as well use the locks at that range,

also theres no boot release, and its not like the focus one where you have the interior lights come on to let you know the things unlocked, you have to walk over and see,

so its not fantastic, but in some ways its good,

anyone know the wiring setup for the mondeo/focus radio con remote locking, cos you could possibly stick one of those in, has longer range and boot release, and alos if you could set it up, the interior lights would come on with the door unlock, which it doesnt with the escort infra red :(
