Grounding

If i wanted a new point in my car to ground my amp, do i just need to drill a hole in the boot floor? do i need to do anything else to it? and then just use a self tapping screw to go through it right?

Why not use one of the seatbelt anchor points.........saves drilling through the rust protection.

I used the bolts that hold the suspension in, (the 3 smaller bolts), just get a bit connector, take a bolt out, put it on and put the bolt back, worked fine for me, (think I ground some of the paint away just to be safe)

I'd just self tapper it in to be honest unless you've thousands of watts it'll be fine. It's more important to keep the earth lead as short as possible and away from signal wires (RCA). Just don't use a 2 inch screw!!! and see whats behind the metal you're screwing into!

a good thing to do, is to sand away paint that will be directly underneath where the wire is going to be screwed, so its bare metal. this will make a better contact for the wire. also, when its all screwed down, spray some paint over it all so that its completely insulated again, and should prevent rust!!

i wouldn't screw INTO the car at all, a very bad idea IMO as said above rust ETC will get into it

Making a new ground point is fine, as long as you treat it properly afterwards. Sure, drilling a hole and leaving it untreated will rust

Take a leaf out of simons book and use the seatbelt anchor points as an earthing point, exactly what i have done.

I tried the seat belt anchors but the bold was too chunky, the ground ring wouldnt fit round it, will give the suspension screws a go 2morrow.

follow the blue cable on the right, i found an earth point there
