RobRS1300
61bhp?? is that all, my 1.3 is meant to have 60bhp as standard. No point putting a 1.6 head on, just have your existing head flowed and ported, kent cam kit is around £250, add a good exhaust with a de-cat and 4 branch manifold that should give you an extra 25bhp I should think, then spend some cash on having the bottom end lightened and balanced, strip of the injection and fit dcoe´s and you dhould have about 90 - 100 BHP, you will of spent about 1.5 -2 grand on it you could of course get hold of a carbed 1.6 cvh from and xr2/3 for next to nothing, strip it down and re-build it to snandard for an instant 95bhp and have only spent about 3 - 400 quid on it!! Cabrio Zo
Hahaha I´ve had this arguement hundreds of times!! Technically mine is a MK6, after all the Mk4 is just a Mk3 facelift and we still call that a mk4. Mk1´s, then there was a change to Mk2, then shape change to 3´s, then 4, then they change shape to 5, then change rear and front grill which is shape 6, then change rear bumper and front lights and bonnet which is shape number 7! (Call it 7 on ESP as easier to differentiate) But Ford say Mk1 Mk2 Mk3 Mk4 Mk5 Mk5b Mk6! Z
Lee R
THERE IS NO MK6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The smiley grille Mk5 is just a facelift!!!!!!!! The Mk4 wasn´t a facelifted version of the mk3 either Different bumpers, front/back lights, dashboard............
RobRS1300
I think you are wrong there zoe, officialy ford only go up to a mk4, the is the mk1 +2 ( the rwd ones) then the mk3, then the mk3 facelift (mark 4) then the mk4 ( mk5) then the mk4 93-95 ( mk5b) Then the mk4 faclift (Mk6) That is what i have been told any way, as to the reality of it i dont know

Chrissyboy
well, my ford dealer told me that after the mk3 they were identified by the year. but as someone on this board told me I was talking balls (because his dad or something has worked for ford for years )

The Mk4 wasn´t a facelifted version of the mk3 either Different bumpers, front/back lights, dashboard............ Could say that about the Mk6, different rear bumper so isn´t a ´facelift´, I mean the Mk4 wasn´t like the Mk1´s and 2´s which were completely different shapes, the Mk4´ just had a few things changed, basically same shape as Mk3.
