unfortunately the council cant grit everywhere :(

True.

The council usually (or should) publish their intentions for gritting of roads in the winter in local papers. Ours did and the single track country road I live on was 6th priority, bottom of the list!

Not 100% on this as I can't remember, but they probably print a disclaimer so as people can't claim on untreated roads.

Thanks for all your comments, I'm quite suprised they were all nice. I was expecting a few sarcastic ones :)

I'm ok, was just a bit shaken when it happened.

I'm going to the scrapyard in a bit to get another hub, as mine is cracked. The strut seems ok and I've replaced the bottom arm.

The car's on the ramp in work at the moment, so hopefully if I get another hub, all will go on ok later and it will straighten up.

If it straightens up, then I'll get it tracked tomorrow and then all will be well, fingers crossed :)

Just the sideskirt will be a pain to put on, as it was ripped out of it's holes, so will probably have to make some more, so will look a bit of a mess :(

i did the exact same thing as you friday night, some drunken twt ran out in front of me and i skidded on a drain and went sideways into the curb, only had the car on the road 2 hours :curse: my wing is bent behind the wheel 2 but as far as i can see it will be fine with a wing and wishbone, shame on the fez you have to buy the wings new as they are welded. bloody old bill were quite happy 2 arrange me recovery as i was stuck on a mini roundabout at the small fee of 140 quid :nutter: :nutter: least no1 was hurt tho

me and my brother had the same problem with our dads escort after he smashed it :O (not icy, he just thought he was a boy racer  ) we went up a hill, not turning smacked some kerb, escort lifted :)) (didnt know escorts could fly myself), landed on other kerb, bent 2 alloys, snapped another 2, 2 front wheels pushed back into wing, creasing the bottom of them, smashed headlight, bent and snapped wishbones :curse: so.... get it fixed by some "mechanic" down by us, all done... get it back, 3 days later me and r kid going round a roundabout, wishbone that supposibly to be brand new, snapped and wheel shot under car flipping us onto our side.... (the wishbone that was "new" was only from a fckuin scrap yard :censored: ) so for your own safety, get your car al checked out, check the wishbones and all that stuff, you dont wanna do what happened to me trust me. kind of scary :thumb:

to bad though, so u have to get new side skirt now or is it fixable? :curse:

Fixable I hope, haven't tried it yet, it's the least of my problems.

So far now, I've put on a new bottom arm and a secondhand hub and driveshaft.

When I dropped the car down off the ramp, the wheel still looks bent in, so took it for a drive to let all the suspension settle.

When I came back, the damaged side now looks straighter, but the driver's side now looks odd.

The steering wheel is on the p!ss, so I'm still going to get it tracked tomorrow and then I'll see how it goes from there.

If it's not right after that, then looks like it could be the subframe :O
